The Heart Behind Easter

It is with great anticipation and excitement that we await Easter. With thankfulness, family and friends will break bread and remember what Easter is all about. It is the greatest gift ever given to humanity—forgiveness for our sins and eternal life.

The heart of Easter is the truth that Jesus took our place on the cross to pay the debt we owed. The Bible says in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

The heart of Easter is celebrating the fact that Jesus truly did rise from the grave, and by doing so, conquered death and opened up the way for humanity to join him for all eternity in the presence of God the Father. As Christ himself declared, “ I am the way and the truth and the life: (John 14:6).

He also told us never to let our heart be troubled, and to trust him promising: “In my Father’s house are many rooms….I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (John 14:13).

He loves.

     He gave.

           We believe.

                 We live.

This is more than enough reason to celebrate at Easter! May your hearts be warmed and home be filled with much love and thanksgiving.
